About the Lithgow Readiness Rally

Hosted by Lithgow City Council, in partnership with local emergency services, the Lithgow Readiness Rally brings together local residents to learn about disaster preparedness and to strengthen community resilience through resources and advice.

This FREE event was held online via Zoom on Saturday, 20 November 2021 from 6pm to 7pm. The event was open to anyone who is from the Lithgow and surrounding regions, especially those who live on properties situated near bushland.

This event expands on the Bushfire Recovery & Community Day held last December in response to the Gosper’s Mountain bushfire that devastated the Lithgow LGA and surrounding regions in 2019.

Readiness Rally

In recent years, fires, floods, drought and the ongoing pandemic have brought unforeseeable challenges to the community of Lithgow. Now is the time to come together as a community and prepare for the future, together.

Emergency disaster management is more effective when everyone in the community works and plans together. Our community will face disasters again in the future, in one form or another, and the best way to recover is to be prepared. Research shows that the more prepared a community is for disasters, the more resilient they become, the better their recovery will be.

Watch the online Lithgow’s Readiness Rally sessions and take important steps to ensure you know the risks, plan ahead for prevention, know how to respond during a disaster and are more resilient when on the road to recovery.
